The Suffolk Coast is a strip rather than a town, and that is how this site is written. Woodbridge and Melton on the Deben, Wickham Market and Framlingham inland, Saxmundham and Leiston in the middle, and Aldeburgh on the shingle. The places along it are small, they are separated by a lot of farmland, and they rarely get reported as one place even though they share a council and most of the same problems.

That council is East Suffolk, formed in 2019 and run from Melton rather than from any of its towns. It decides planning, licensing, parking and bins from here up to Southwold and Lowestoft and down to Felixstowe. We read what it publishes and write down what it says for this stretch of coast, linking to the document each time.

What is on this site

  • House prices: what homes actually sold for, town by town, from Land Registry records. Woodbridge £360,000, Aldeburgh £525,000, Leiston £228,250.
  • Trains to London: every journey from this coast changes at Ipswich. Times and fares from seven stations, and what a season ticket costs.
  • Roadworks and travel: the A12 north of Wickham Market is a Sizewell C worksite. Current closures, diversions and the 30mph stretches.
  • Planning and the Local Plan: the housing number East Suffolk has to plan for, where the new Local Plan has got to, and what is in the register this week.
  • Things to do: verified prices and opening times for days out here and up the coast, including the ones that are shut.
  • News and What’s On for the week itself.

Every fact is linked to the document behind it.
